Reece Foundation Support for Newcastle United Foundation’s STEM Program inspires Young Learners

The Reece Foundation is part of a transformative initiative that is making STEM subjects more accessible and exciting for young people in the region.
With our continued support, Newcastle United Foundation has been able to empower over 1,490 schoolchildren to explore STEM education in a hands-on, immersive envi-ronment since the beginning of the academic year.
The Foundation’s purpose-built STEM room at NUCASTLE, its community hub, is bringing STEM to life for students. This state-of-the-art space provides a unique opportunity for pupils to engage with coding robots, virtual reality headsets, LEGO Learning System sets, and more tools that open up new possibilities for understanding and creativity outside the classroom.
Anne Reece, Chair of the Reece Foundation said: “We are very proud to play our part in this inspiring STEM initiative with the Newcastle United Foundation, giving young people the skills they need to thrive in a world that’s constantly changing. Together, we’re helping to inspire the next generation of innovators, leaders, and problem-solvers and create opportunities for future generations to thrive and succeed.”
A standout moment in this collaboration was when North Gosforth Academy students shared their STEM lesson with their Newcastle United heroes, Fabian Schär and John Ruddy. The professional footballers not only participated in building and coding activities but also shared their thoughts on the wide range of opportunities available for young people through the Foundation’s programming.
Andy Foster, Director of Programmes and Impact at Newcastle United Foundation, said, “Immersive experiences allow students to develop a real interest and insight into what STEM opportunities are available to them and this helps shape future study and career choices. For these young people to share their knowledge and to work on STEM tasks with Fabian Schär and John Ruddy has been a special experience made possible thanks to the continued support of Newcastle United, the Premier League and Reece Foundation.”
NUCASTLE is fully accessible, welcoming students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to engage in STEM activities, with 191 attendances recorded since the start of the academic year alone. Additionally, the Foundation is making strides in increasing par-ticipation among women and girls in STEM, offering girls-only sessions to foster great-er inclusivity.
